ISLAMABAD, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Three terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday, police said.
The operation took place in the Sakhadob area of Swat district against a group led by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Muzaffar, alias Khalid, the CTD said.
The terrorists opened fire on police and took shelter in a nearby house. Three were killed during an exchange of fire, while two escaped and a search for them was underway, the statement said.
The CTD said the slain terrorists were involved in several terrorist incidents this year, including shooting attacks and a targeted killing in the district. ■
