HARBIN, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Harbin-Yichun high-speed railway, China's northernmost high-speed railway running through a region of discontinuous permafrost in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, officially entered service on Sept. 28. With a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the 318-km line slashed travel time between Harbin and Yichun from about seven hours to just two hours.
The efficient and convenient rail service is expected to facilitate the free flow of talents, passengers, materials and technologies, boosting coordinated regional development in Heilongjiang and forming a key corridor for the region's high-quality development.
