TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- A commander of the women's Basij volunteer force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and a policeman were killed in two separate "terrorist" shooting attacks in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Wednesday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Fars said both attacks took place in Mehrestan County, identifying the women's Basij commander as Afsaneh Aqila and the policeman as Mohammad-Ali Shahriari.

It added that Aqila was killed by "terrorists" in front of her house and Shahriari died in an attack by armed individuals on a police vehicle, stressing that efforts are underway to arrest those behind the attacks.

The semi-official Tasnim news agency claimed that militants who killed Aqila are linked to the United States and Israel, but did not provide further details.

Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has seen repeated clashes involving Iranian security forces, militants and drug traffickers, with both civilians and personnel targeted in terrorist attacks.

Tasnim news agency reported that, in the province, a senior police official was killed in a roadside bomb explosion on Oct. 9, while two members of Iranian security forces were killed and three others wounded in armed attacks on Oct. 8. ■
