JAKARTA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- A tourist boat sank in Komodo National Park in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province on Tuesday, leaving one Indonesian woman missing and 29 others rescued, local search and rescue authorities said Wednesday.

The KM Feronia, carrying 25 passengers and five crew members, capsized on Tuesday afternoon after encountering strong currents near Tatawa Besar waters, according to the Labuan Bajo Port Authority.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, the boat had already sunk, said Fathur Rahman, head of the Maumere Search and Rescue Office. The joint search and rescue team evacuated 29 people using several vessels.

Search efforts will continue in accordance with the search and rescue operation plan, Rahman said, adding that one person remained missing.

Authorities said the boat was carrying passengers returning from diving activities in the waters around Manta Point before heading toward Labuan Bajo. ■
