BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.1 percent to 3,800.86 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent lower at 12,353.70 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by these two indices totaled about 1.68 trillion yuan (about 250 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.54 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to ice-and-snow economy and oil and gas led the gains, while those in insurance and battery sectors saw the biggest drops.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.18 percent to close at 2,958.34 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.08 percent lower at 1,681.89 points. ■
