DAMASCUS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces carried out fresh incursions into southern Syria on Tuesday, firing toward farmland and searching civilian homes, a war monitor reported.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said an Israeli patrol entered farmland near Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside and opened fire to stop farmers from reaching their fields.
In a separate incident around midnight Monday, seven Israeli military vehicles entered an area north of Kudna in the southern province of Quneitra and searched several homes, the monitor said, adding that no arrests were reported.
The movements followed a series of Israeli incursions on Sunday and Monday across the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, as well as the Damascus countryside, involving detentions, gunfire and the destruction of former military positions.
The operations have raised concerns over civilian safety, agricultural livelihoods, and freedom of movement in communities near the Israeli-controlled areas.
A report released on Oct. 8 by the Syrian Network for Human Rights documented at least 453 Israeli ground incursions between December 2024 and Oct. 6, 2026, concentrated mainly in Quneitra and Daraa provinces, alongside 69 deaths and 162 cases of arbitrary detention linked to Israeli military operations.
Tensions between Syria and Israel have persisted since the former Syrian government fell in December 2024, when Israeli forces expanded their military presence into the UN-monitored separation area in the occupied Golan Heights. ■
