KABUL, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Police seized 263 kg of opium-type drugs from two vehicles and detained two suspected smugglers in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz on Monday, provincial police spokesman Jumadin Khaksar said Tuesday.
The suspects had concealed the contraband in cavities in the two vehicles and were attempting to smuggle it to undisclosed destinations, the official said, adding that both suspects and their vehicles had been taken into custody for further investigation.
In a similar operation, police also seized 33 kg of opium in the western province of Nimroz on Sunday. ■
