BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Multiple types of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force's main combat equipment will make their debut at the 16th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, scheduled for Dec. 7 to 13 in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province.

The airshow will feature a greater proportion of new-type combat forces, Gao Xiang, an air force official, said at a press conference on Tuesday, as the event marks its 30th anniversary this year.

The exhibits will cover equipment for areas such as aerial reconnaissance, early warning, air defense, support, airborne operations, unmanned applications and intelligent equipment, and munitions, and will present in full the PLA Air Force's progress in upgrading its equipment and improving its combat system.

This year's airshow will feature a section dedicated to digital intelligence for the first time, using humanoids and virtual digital humans to showcase the PLA Air Force's latest achievements in building a digital intelligent air force and applying artificial intelligence, said Gao.

At this year's airshow, the Air Force's flying demonstrations will feature formations and maneuvers closely modeled on actual combat scenarios, offering a vivid display of the troops' training standards and combat capabilities, Gao said.

More than 1,100 companies from nearly 50 countries and regions have registered to participate in the airshow so far, with over 3,000 pieces of equipment to be exhibited. First-time exhibits and debut displays account for about 10 percent of the total. ■
