DAMASCUS, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces carried out eight incursions into southern Syria on Sunday, temporarily detaining three shepherds, searching civilian homes and damaging private property, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Monday.
The Britain-based watchdog said the incursions took place across parts of Quneitra and Daraa provinces, involving Israeli military vehicles, house searches and gunfire.
According to the observatory, Israeli forces temporarily detained three shepherds near a farm in Quneitra countryside before releasing them hours later.
In another incident, an Israeli patrol entered the town of al-Hamidiyah in Quneitra countryside with four military vehicles and searched several civilian homes after making announcements to residents through loudspeakers.
Israeli forces withdrew from al-Hanout farm in Quneitra countryside on Sunday evening after a deployment lasting several hours, the observatory said.
The incursions came amid continued Israeli military operations in southern Syria.
In a report released on Oct. 8, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said it had documented at least 453 Israeli ground incursions into Syrian territory between Dec. 8, 2024, and Oct. 6, 2026, concentrated mainly in Quneitra and Daraa provinces.
Syria has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions into southern Syria, raids, detentions, land-clearing operations and shelling. ■
