BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina winger Angel Di Maria scored twice to lead Rosario Central to a 5-0 home victory over 10-man Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Sunday.
Di Maria converted an early penalty and the visitors were handed another blow just before halftime when Alex Arce was shown a straight red card for an ugly challenge on Gaston Avila.
Colombian midfielder Jaminton Campaz doubled Rosario's lead early in the second half after Vicente Pizarro's pass and the Chilean playmaker then set up Di Maria for his team's third goal.
Enzo Copetti and Marco Ruben were also on target as Rosario Central eased to its sixth win of the campaign and moved to the top of the 15-team Zone B standings. Independiente Rivadavia is eighth, four points further back.
"Everything went perfectly and this is a result that we deserved," Di Maria told reporters after the match. "I told the boys we had to play with grit because this victory keeps our dreams alive."
In other Argentine top flight fixtures on Sunday, San Lorenzo won 1-0 at home to Deportivo Riestra, Argentinos Juniors drew 1-1 at Platense and Belgrano secured a 2-0 victory at Racing Club. ■
