TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq on Sunday reaffirmed their countries' commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the West Asia region.
In a phone call, the two sides also highlighted the necessity to continue bilateral consultations, according to a statement published on the website of the Iranian president's office.
Pezeshkian praised efforts by the Omani sultan and government to promote regional peace and stability, stressing the need to use the regional states' joint capacities to improve understanding and cooperation, the statement read.
He also described Iran-Oman ties as "friendly and age-old," and invited the Omani sultan to visit Iran, it said.
Oman's sultan, for his part, highlighted his country's approach of supporting peace and stability in the region, emphasizing that maintaining close ties and consultations with Iran remains a priority of Oman, it added. ■
