MIAMI, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi scored two goals each as Inter Miami cruised to a 4-0 home MLS win over D.C. United on Saturday.
It took just two and a half minutes for the hosts to open the scoring as German Berterame's cross found Suarez, who sent a first-time effort into the far corner.
Berterame was again the provider in the 39th minute when his headed cross was volleyed in by Suarez from inside the six-yard box.
Suarez was irrepressible and his dinked pass set up Messi to fire in Inter Miami's third goal just after halftime.
Messi completed the rout on the hour with a mazy run into the box and low shot that beat goalkeeper Sean Johnson at his near post.
The match came four days after Messi scored and provided two assists in his 208th and final appearance for Argentina in its 3-0 friendly win over Benin in Buenos Aires.
Despite his retirement from international football, the 39-year-old eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has more than a year left on his Inter Miami contract. ■
