BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors captain Leandro Paredes is set to miss his team's Copa Sudamericana semifinal against Vasco da Gama due to a leg muscle tear.
The 32-year-old sustained the injury during a 2-2 draw with Instituto Cordoba in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Friday. Tests on Saturday confirmed he has a grade two tear in his right hamstring.
The diagnosis is expected to rule the former Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Juventus player out of Boca's home and away fixtures against Vasco on October 13 and 20.
He is also in doubt for the Buenos Aires derby against traditional rival River Plate, scheduled for November 1 at La Bombonera.
Boca is currently third in Argentina's 15-team Zone A Clausura group standings. ■
