MANILA, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed after a landslide buried a family's house in a hinterland village in Cebu City, central Philippines, on Friday, according to local media reports on Saturday.
Rescuers recovered four people buried in the debris, among whom a grandmother and a child were found dead. Another child was sent to hospital but died while receiving treatment, while the mother of the two children was rescued alive.
Witnesses said the family was having lunch when soil from the mountainside a few meters behind their house gave way. The family tried to escape but was overtaken by the falling earth.
The incident destroyed two houses, and residents of 29 other houses were forced to leave their homes. ■
