KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 48th escort task group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy arrived in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, Thursday morning for a five-day goodwill visit.
Representatives of the Eastern Fleet of the Royal Malaysian Navy, staff members of the Chinese embassy and consulates in Malaysia, and representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese communities gathered at the pier to welcome the task group. A Malaysian naval band played welcome music.
During the visit, the two sides will conduct professional exchanges, ship visits and other activities.
Composed of the guided-missile destroyer Tangshan, the guided-missile frigate Daqing and the comprehensive supply ship Taihu, the task group made a technical stop at Changi Port in Singapore for equipment maintenance, replenishment and other activities on Oct. 2-4. ■
