TEHRAN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two members of Iranian security forces were killed and three others wounded in armed attacks in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Thursday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
In one incident, a minibus carrying Iranian army ground force members deployed to the Makran coast was attacked by armed individuals in Nikshahr county as the forces were en route to change shifts, the report said.
One member was killed and three others were injured, it said.
In the other incident, armed "thugs" attacked the commando unit of Nosratabad city's police during a patrol in Zahedan county, according to Tasnim. One law enforcement officer was killed, while a number of the "terrorists" were wounded and fled after unit members returned fire, it reported.
The report said those behind the attacks have been identified, and police have launched a manhunt to arrest them.
Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has seen repeated violence involving Iranian security forces, militants and drug traffickers, with both civilians and personnel targeted.
On Monday, two police officers were killed and another wounded in a shooting attack by militants in the province, the official news agency IRNA reported. ■
