DOHA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met visiting Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Tuesday and discussed the latest regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Sheikh Tamim met Momeni and his delegation at the Amiri Diwan, the emir's administration office, in Doha, according to a statement from the Amiri Diwan.
The meeting came as Qatar continued diplomatic contacts with various parties and regional partners to ease tensions and reach a peaceful solution to the regional crisis.
Conflict between the United States and Iran has dragged on for more than seven months, with no breakthrough in sight.
Earlier Tuesday, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said alongside exchanges of messages among different parties through Doha and its regional partners were continuing. ■
