RIYADH, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced on Tuesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward the southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.
Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said in a post on social media platform X that the missile had been intercepted and destroyed.
Separately, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty stressed during a phone call on Tuesday the need to safeguard maritime routes and freedom of navigation, particularly in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The two ministers discussed current regional developments and reaffirmed the two countries' support for Sudan's unity and sovereignty and the preservation of its national institutions.
They also reviewed the strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields. ■
