PHNOM PENH, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Average daily trading volume on the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) hit an all-time high in September 2026 as investor momentum continued to surge, the bourse said in a press release on Wednesday.

Trading activity on the CSX gained sharp momentum, setting a new record as the average daily trading value in September reached 5.8 billion riels (about 1.45 million U.S. dollars). This represents a roughly 63-percent surge from the previous record of 3.6 billion riels, set in April 2022.

The exchange added that the average daily number of orders placed reached 12,173 in September, with an average of 7.5 million shares ordered per day.

Concurrently, the CSX Index climbed to 650.62 points, marking a 20.26-percent rise that highlights solid market confidence and sustained liquidity inflows into the exchange.

"This historic breakthrough clearly reflects the potential and resilience of Cambodia's securities market," the CSX said. "Investors maintain strong confidence and continue investing in the Cambodian stock market amid global economic instability."

Appetite for the market was further underscored by 4,162 investors opening new trading accounts in September. This is the highest single-month figure on record, surpassing the previous milestone of 4,034 accounts registered in September 2018.

Since launching trade operations in 2012, the CSX has grown to feature a total of 28 listed companies, comprising 12 equity firms and 16 corporate bond issuers. ■
