TEHRAN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Two police officers were killed and another one wounded on Monday in a shooting attack by armed "terrorists" in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, the official news agency IRNA reported.
The policemen were patrolling the road between the counties of Bampur and Iranshahr when the attack occurred, IRNA said, citing a statement released by the provincial police's command center.
A manhunt has been launched in the region to arrest the gunmen, said the statement.
Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has seen repeated clashes involving Iranian security forces, militants and drug traffickers, with both civilians and personnel targeted in terrorist attacks.
On Friday, an Iranian security officer was killed by a roadside bomb planted by "terrorists" along a road in Sistan and Baluchestan, according to IRNA. ■
