ISLAMABAD, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday that educational institutions and teachers lay the foundations for national progress and prosperity, emphasizing their contribution to shaping the future of the country.
In a message to mark World Teachers' Day, Sharif said teachers are instrumental in nurturing young people, developing their abilities, expanding their knowledge and instilling values that help shape societies.
Pakistan's development is closely linked to the quality of its education system and the dedication of its teachers, the prime minister said.
He stressed the need for an inclusive and future-oriented education system capable of responding to artificial intelligence, climate change, technological advancement and the changing demands of the job market.
Highlighting the country's efforts, Sharif said the government is committed to providing teachers with professional training, modern educational resources and a conducive teaching and learning environment.
The government is also pursuing curriculum reforms and expanding technical and vocational training to equip young people with skills aligned with industrial and employment needs, he said.
A new generation imbued with the values of integrity, compassion, tolerance, discipline, creativity, mutual respect and patriotism would be capable of shouldering the responsibilities of the future, he added. ■
