BUCHAREST, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed after a grain-loaded cargo ship was struck by a drone in the Black Sea on Monday, Romania's Interior Ministry said.
The Royad Mammadov caught fire after the strike and later sank, while 11 crew members were rescued.
The Romanian Naval Authority said its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Constanta was alerted to the incident at around 11 a.m. (0800 GMT) local time. The incident occurred outside Romanian territorial waters, prompting the center to mobilize rescue vessels.
The Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged ship was carrying grain to Italy and was scheduled to arrive at the port of Ravenna on Oct. 12. ■
