ISLAMABAD, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Eight terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation by security forces in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, security sources said.
The operation was conducted in Dera Ismail Khan district following intelligence about the presence of terrorists, security sources told Xinhua.
Three key leaders of the banned militant organization Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan were among those killed, while weapons, ammunition and foreign currency were recovered from the militants, the sources said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the operation, saying the fight against terrorism would continue until its complete elimination. ■
