JERUSALEM, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Super League club Ironi Eilat announced Sunday that it has signed 32-year-old forward Anunwa "Nuni" Omot, who previously played in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

Omot joined the CBA's Ningbo Rockets in February 2024 and played 11 games through the end of the regular season, averaging 25.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

The following season, he joined the Beijing Ducks, appearing in 45 regular-season games and averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

He helped Beijing finish third in the regular-season standings and reach the CBA Finals, where the Ducks lost 4-2 to Zhejiang Guangsha.

Since leaving China, Omot has had short stints in Rwanda, the Philippines and Libya. His career has also included spells with seven European clubs and Egyptian side Al Ahly, which he helped lead to its first Basketball Africa League (BAL) championship in 2023.

Omot represented South Sudan at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he scored 24 points in his team's loss to the United States.

"Omot is an experienced and versatile player who arrives with a great hunger to succeed," Eilat head coach Oren Aharoni said. "I hope he settles in quickly and helps us achieve all of our goals this season." ■
