OTTAWA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Canada forward Cyle Larin could miss his team's soccer friendly against Peru due to a back problem, head coach Jesse Marsch said on Friday.

Larin, who played 75 minutes in Canada's 1-0 friendly win over Chile in Toronto last Saturday, picked up the injury during a gym accident.

"He hurt his back in the weight room," Marsch said, noting the 31-year-old Southampton player would be given until the morning of Saturday's match to prove his fitness. "All of the other players will be available," he added.

Both teams will be allowed up to 11 substitutions during the match at Saputo Stadium, and Marsch intends to make the most of it.

"We'll be looking to give everybody chances to play tomorrow," he said. "We know Peru from playing them in the Copa America, and then we've watched them in their last matches."

The 52-year-old American insisted his side would not underestimate Peru, praising the South American team's performance in a 1-1 draw with Mexico on Tuesday.

"I thought they played a very good, spirited match and they made it very difficult on Mexico. I think internally they feel really good about that match, and they want to use that momentum to come and play now against us." ■
