NEW YORK, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Striker Hugo Benitez scored in the second half as Paraguay secured a 1-0 friendly win over Colombia on Friday.
Benitez broke the deadlock in the 56th minute by firing in from close range after his initial attempt was blocked by goalkeeper Orlando Gill.
Colombia had 58 percent of the possession but lacked a cutting edge in attack, managing only two shots on target.
"The match gives us plenty of takeaways that we need to fine-tune," Paraguay manager Gustavo Alfaro said.
"We're not paying too much attention to the result because the main objective we have now is to test and experiment. But it's also true that it's easier to build something new with positive outcomes." ■
