NAGOYA, Japan, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Athletes' Committee announced Saturday that four athletes had been elected as new members of the commission following a vote held during the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

They are Japanese track and field athlete Naoto Tobe, Kazakhstan's speed climber Amir Maimuratov, Qatar's skeet shooter Reem Al-Sharshani and Thailand's shooter Thanyalak Chotphibunsin.

In the lead-up to the Games, Tobe served on the Coordination Commission as an athlete representative.

"As you all know, I think these Games faced various challenges. I don't think they were caused by any single entity, whether the Organizing Committee or the OCA, bearing sole responsibility," Tobe said.

"Ultimately, however, the athletes are the ones most affected by these issues. Through my work during the Games, I was able to see firsthand how they were affected," he added.

"I have a lot of experience as an athlete myself, and I have also been involved in preparing for and organizing various competitions. I hope to make use of those experiences and contribute to making things better," Tobe said. ■
