HANOI, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The economy of Vietnam's southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City grew 9.86 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2026, local news outlet VnExpress reported Thursday.
The services sector, which accounted for 51.9 percent of overall growth, expanded by 9.95 percent, while the industry and construction sector grew by 10.17 percent and the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector expanded by 3.4 percent.
The strong third-quarter performance brought the city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth in the first nine months to 9.06 percent year on year, with services remaining the main growth driver, accounting for 51.8 percent of GRDP and contributing 53.6 percent to the overall expansion, the report added.
To achieve its full-year growth target of over 10 percent, the city's economy would need to expand by more than 13 percent in the fourth quarter, according to the report. ■
