NAGOYA, Japan, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- South Korea claimed its second consecutive League of Legends title after beating Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday.

Chinese Taipei held solid leads in the first two games and built a gold advantage of more than 5,000 in the second, but South Korea fought back in both to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

In the third game, the defending champion dominated and closed out the contest in under 30 minutes to complete the sweep.

The Aichi Sky Expo Hall was packed with spectators throughout the final. South Korea's Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, widely regarded as the greatest League of Legends player of all time, did not feature in the match and remained on the bench.

A total of eight teams competed in the tournament under the "Hard Fearless Draft" rule, under which each champion could be selected only once per series. The competition consisted of a single-round-robin group stage followed by a single-elimination knockout stage.

At the conclusion of all 11 esports events at the Asian Games, China topped the esports medal table with three golds, while South Korea and host Japan each won one gold medal.

Esports became an official medal sport at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, following its debut as a demonstration event at Jakarta 2018. ■
