JAKARTA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Police have named four suspects in connection with a ship that capsized and later sank in the Java Sea on Sept. 13, South Kalimantan police said on Friday.

Sigit Haryono, a local police official, said the four suspects were the ship's captain, an official from shipping and logistics company PT Virgo Karya Shipping, the company's branch manager and its operations manager.

The captain is being held at the South Kalimantan police office, while the other three suspects have been summoned for questioning, Sigit said.

As of Friday, 80 victims had been found dead, while 108 people survived and 55 others remained missing, according to the National Search and Rescue Agency.

The Virgo Transport 8, with 243 people onboard, departed Surabaya in East Java on Sept. 12 for Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan. It encountered bad weather during the voyage and lost contact at around 2 a.m. local time on Sept. 13. ■
