SYDNEY, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Three men have been arrested and charged after two women were assaulted during separate home invasions in southwest Sydney on Tuesday and Thursday.
Police said in a statement on Friday that the first incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when a group of unknown men forced entry into a property in the southwest Sydney suburb of Arncliffe before threatening a 31-year-old woman with a knife, sexually assaulting her and stealing money.
Two nights later, police responded to reports of a home invasion in the nearby suburb of Bankstown in the early hours of Thursday.
Officers were told that three unknown men had forced entry into the residence before assaulting a 32-year-old woman and stealing money.
Both victims were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Detectives from the sex crimes squad combined the investigations into both incidents and on Thursday night executed search warrants at three southwest Sydney properties and arrested three men. ■
