ALGIERS, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The second meeting of energy ministers from countries involved in the SoutH2 Corridor project, a planned green hydrogen import route from North Africa to Europe, opened Thursday in Algiers, focusing on advancing the transport initiative.

The meeting brings together representatives from Algeria, Austria, Germany, Italy and Tunisia, Tadamssa news website reported.

It seeks to move the project from political commitments toward concrete decisions, including agreements on production volumes, hydrogen prices, infrastructure costs and long-term purchase contracts, it reported.

The SoutH2 Corridor is a planned 3,000-km hydrogen transport network linking Algeria with Italy, Austria and Germany via Tunisia. It aims to transport up to 4 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually to Europe, meeting about 10 percent of the European Union's projected hydrogen demand by 2040, according to media reports. ■
