ACCRA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Carlos Queiroz has left his role as head coach of Ghana's national team by mutual agreement, the Ghana Football Association said on Thursday.
Queiroz's departure comes after Ghana lost its two most recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, falling 2-0 away to Cote d'Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 home defeat to Gambia.
"The Ghana Football Association would like to sincerely thank Carlos Queiroz for his commitment, professionalism and dedication during his time with the Black Stars," the GFA said in a statement.
"We are grateful for his efforts in helping to build a stronger future for the national team and supporting the development of Ghanaian talent since taking charge ahead of the preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the AFCON 2027 qualifiers."
The GFA said it would announce the team's future technical direction and its next steps in due course.
Queiroz, a former Real Madrid coach and Manchester United assistant, was appointed Ghana head coach 10 weeks before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars progressed from Group L as one of the eight best third-placed teams, before losing 1-0 to Colombia in the round of 32. ■
