LONDON, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- British police have arrested 17 people as part of an investigation into a suspected organized crime group, local media reported Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police said the arrests were made during dawn raids on Tuesday at 24 properties in London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
More than 800 officers took part in the operations, and one officer was stabbed in the leg while carrying out a warrant.
According to the report, those arrested included 15 men aged between 26 and 65 and two women aged 31 and 41.
The suspected offenses included participating in the activities of an organized crime group, money laundering, cheating the public revenue, false accounting and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. ■
