DOHA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed joint diplomatic efforts on Wednesday to de-escalate regional tensions and enhance security and stability, according to Qatar's Foreign Ministry.
During a phone call, the two sides discussed the latest regional developments and coordination on diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, as well as bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it, the ministry said.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar's support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a solution that ensures freedom of maritime navigation and paves the way for a comprehensive agreement that achieves lasting peace in the region.
Abdelatty said in a post on social media platform X that he had discussed with Sheikh Mohammed "continued efforts to de-escalate regional tensions."
The call came as Qatar and Egypt, both active mediators in regional crises, continued their diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions, including those affecting maritime navigation. ■
