KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Air quality remained poor across Malaysia, with dozens of areas recording unhealthy readings on Wednesday, official data showed.
Selangor state was the worst affected, with the Johan Setia district recording an air pollution index (API) of 175, while the state capital Shah Alam recorded 169, according to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System.
The capital Kuala Lumpur also saw unhealthy readings, with the Cheras area recording 170 and Batu Muda recording 163.
According to the country's air quality rating, an API reading of zero to 50 is "good," 51 to 100 "moderate," 101 to 200 "unhealthy," 201 to 300 "very unhealthy," and 301 and above "hazardous." ■
