LUSAKA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Zambia on Tuesday donated agricultural equipment to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) to support its agricultural projects.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing attended the donation ceremony in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, along with Zambia's Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Mambo Hamaundu and ZAF Commander Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni.
The donated equipment included tractors, planters, ploughs and industrial sprayers.
Addressing the ceremony, Han said the donation reflects the longstanding friendship between the two countries since establishing diplomatic relations in 1964. He noted that agricultural mechanization is key to economic growth, adding that China stands ready to partner with Zambia to advance its agricultural goals.
"Over the past 62 years, China-Zambia relations have spanned many areas such as transport, agriculture, construction, trade and defense," Han said.
For his part, Hamaundu commended the donation as generous and timely, saying it represents an investment in productivity, food security, technology and the Zambian people. He noted that the equipment will assist ZAF in land preparation, planting, and farm management across its agricultural projects. ■
