TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday expressed his country's willingness to deepen relations with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
He made the remarks during a phone call with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran, according to statements published by his office.
Pezeshkian pointed to the importance Iran's foreign policy attaches to expanding relations with neighboring and regional countries, emphasizing that promoting ties with different states, especially "friendly and like-minded" ones, is among the fundamental priorities of Iran's foreign policy, and that Tehran seeks to further develop cooperation and relations with Tashkent.
The Uzbek president, for his part, pointed to the growing momentum in bilateral relations and cooperation, adding that ties and cooperation between the two countries in various fields are continuing to expand.
The Azerbaijani deputy premier emphasized his country's determination to further expand relations with Iran, underscoring the necessity of following up on and implementing the agreements and understandings reached between the two countries.
Separately, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said during a meeting with Mustafayev on Tuesday that Tehran has conveyed to Washington its conditions for ceasing hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but U.S. President Donald Trump is unable to make a decision, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. ■
