HONG KONG, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Five Hong Kong universities have secured their places among the world's top 100, according to the World University Rankings 2027 released by the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE).
According to the rankings, the University of Hong Kong ranked 33rd globally, followed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong at 42nd, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology at 58th, City University of Hong Kong at 70th, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University at 79th.
In addition, Hong Kong Baptist University was placed at 205th, with the Education University of Hong Kong and Lingnan University coming in at 212th and 257th, respectively.
Xiang Zhang, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, said that the university will continue to advance its mission as a leading global institution, driving progress through world-class teaching and research innovation to strengthen its contributions to the betterment of Hong Kong, the nation, and the world.
Chun-Sing Lee, acting president of City University of Hong Kong, said that the university will continue to deepen international collaboration in teaching and research, nurture future leaders with global competitiveness and social responsibility, and actively support Hong Kong's development into a cradle of world-class talent.
Jin-Guang Teng, president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, said that the university will continue to deepen innovation in research and teaching, actively expand multidisciplinary and international collaboration, accelerate the translation of innovative achievements into application, and strive to build an innovation hub that gathers top global talent.
A total of 2,297 universities from 118 countries and regions were evaluated across five key areas including teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry. ■
