BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Yi Huiman, former chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), has been prosecuted on charges of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Wednesday.
Yi, also a former deputy director of the Committee of Economy of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was indicted by the Qingdao Municipal People's Procuratorate in east China's Shandong Province.
The National Commission of Supervision had concluded its investigation and transferred the case to prosecutors for review and prosecution. The SPP subsequently ordered Yi's arrest on suspicion of taking bribes and designated the Qingdao procuratorate to handle the case.
The indictment said Yi took advantage of his positions at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the CSRC, as well as the convenience of his authority or status, to seek benefits for others and illegally accept money and valuables in especially large amounts.
The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced on April 30 that Yi was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office over serious violations of discipline and law. ■
