PYONGYANG, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Japan is planning to build more gunpowder houses for its Self-Defense Forces under the pretext of bolstering defense capabilities to prepare for a prolonged war, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Wednesday.
Japan currently has more than 1,400 gunpowder houses nationwide and plans to construct about 130 additional arsenals based on standardized designs by 2032, according to a commentary by the agency.
The article said that since Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi took office, the Japanese authorities have openly pursued a dangerous neo-militarist policy and are "hell-bent on rounding off the war preparations for aggression."
It further said that Japan is "getting fully prepared for a war state," describing the expansion of gunpowder storage facilities as "self-destructive acts of turning the whole of the archipelago into a huge powder box."
If the Japanese neo-militarists forget the bitter lessons of the past, they will only face a second defeat of Japan, the commentary warned. ■
