CAIRO, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Tuesday that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, reaffirming that peace is Egypt's strategic choice.
Sisi made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, cabinet members, senior officials, experts and specialists at the State Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
Sisi stressed that the Palestinian issue remains the central issue in the Middle East and that the failure to resolve it is a cause of instability in the region.
He also reaffirmed Egypt's foreign policy principles, including supporting the security and stability of Arab Gulf countries and maintaining freedom of navigation in waterways in accordance with international law.
Sisi's remarks came as the region continues to face crises and tensions, with Egypt playing an active role in mediation efforts and seeking political settlements to regional conflicts. ■
