BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Consumer protection helps create a fair and trusted market where consumers have confidence and responsible businesses can continue to grow, a senior Brunei government official said on Monday.
Hajah May Fae'zah Ahmad Ariffin, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said a well-functioning domestic market also encourages investment, fosters innovation and supports economic growth, in line with the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035.
She made the remarks at the National Consumer Day forum held near the capital. The forum was organized by the Consumer Affairs Department under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
More than 150 participants attended the forum, comprising representatives from regulatory agencies, businesses and consumers.
The forum highlighted measures to strengthen consumer confidence in Brunei's market and promote greater awareness of product safety and consumer protection. ■
