JERUSALEM/GAZA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that there were indications that Israel's enemies could try to carry out an attack ahead of the country's Oct. 27 election.
"There are signs that ahead of the elections our enemies will try to attack us," Netanyahu said in a video statement from Tel Nof air base, south of Tel Aviv. He did not specify who might be behind such an attack or provide details of the intelligence.
"Don't mess with us. Our long arm will reach you anywhere and at any time," he warned.
Netanyahu is on a reelection campaign ahead of the Oct. 27 elections.
He said Israel was continuing military operations across several fronts, including Gaza and Lebanon, and had killed more than 100 "terrorists" in Gaza in recent weeks.
Also on Tuesday, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike targeting an apartment in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of western Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources.
Eyewitnesses and Palestinian sources reported that an Israeli aircraft fired several missiles at the apartment, destroying it and setting it ablaze.
The civil defense service in Gaza said in a press statement that its crews managed to extinguish the fire that broke out in the apartment following the strike, while ambulances transported the two deceased individuals and several injured people to al-Shifa Medical complex.
The Hamas-run Government Media Office in Gaza on Tuesday accused Israel of "evading" its obligations under the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
In a press statement, the office said the "Israeli occupation has demonstrated its evasion of obligations under the agreement" and continued practices that have worsened the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
Since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,422 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,023, according to Gaza-based health authorities. ■
