JERUSALEM, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that Hamas leaders abroad were also targets for Israel, hours after Israel said it had killed the commander of Hamas' northern Gaza brigade in an overnight airstrike.
"Hamas leaders abroad are also in our sights," Katz said in a video statement, adding that Israel would pursue those it holds responsible for the Hamas-led attack on Oct. 7, 2023.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Katz said earlier that Izz al-Din al-Bik, commander of Hamas' northern Gaza brigade, had been killed in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian media also reported his death.
Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu said Israel was continuing military operations across several fronts, including Gaza and Lebanon, and had killed more than 100 "terrorists" in Gaza in recent weeks.
Since a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,422 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,023, according to Gaza-based health authorities. ■
