SUVA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Fiji is set to strengthen cooperation with Serbia in public administration, professional development and institutional capacity building under a proposed Memorandum of Cooperation.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told parliament on Tuesday that the proposed agreement between Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service (FLIPS) and Serbia's National Academy for Public Administration would provide a framework for sharing knowledge, expertise and good practices in public administration and governance.
The cooperation is expected to cover professional and leadership development, organizational capacity building, staff exchanges and study visits, as well as joint conferences, seminars and workshops.
Rabuka said the partnership would provide Fiji's public servants with greater access to international experience and expertise in governance, public policy and public administration, adding that it would also strengthen the FLIPS as an institution responsible for developing the skills and capabilities needed for a modern and future-ready public service.
Fiji and Serbia have maintained diplomatic relations since 1976. The two governments reaffirmed their commitment in 2025 to deepening engagement and cooperation in areas of mutual interest. ■
