KABUL, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghan and Kazakhstani traders have signed commercial agreements worth 20 million U.S. dollars in western Herat province, aiming to bolster bilateral trade and investment ties, local officials announced on Tuesday.
Afghanistan's exports to Kazakhstan remain below levels deemed satisfactory by Afghan business leaders, highlighting the urgent need to substantially expand bilateral trade and commercial exchanges, said Younis Qazizada, director of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment.
Qazizada underscored the importance of deepening trade relations, increasing the volume of economic transactions, and establishing the requisite infrastructure and a more enabling environment to facilitate greater activity by Afghan traders.
Economic engagement between the two nations has gained considerable momentum in recent months. In June, Afghan and Kazakhstani enterprises signed 25 Memoranda of Understanding in Kabul, further cementing their growing commercial cooperation. ■
