KAMPALA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Libya head coach Youssouph Dabo said his team will target all three points when it faces host Uganda in a 2027 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.
Uganda will host Libya in a Group H match at Hoima City Stadium in western Uganda on September 29.
Dabo told Xinhua on Monday that Libya had traveled to Uganda determined to secure its first win of the qualifying campaign.
"We are here for serious business, and my team will fight for the entire 90 minutes," Dabo said.
The Knights of the Mediterranean opened their campaign with a 2-2 home draw against Botswana, while Uganda also earned a point after drawing 1-1 away to Tunisia last week.
Dabo said Libya was determined to build on its opening result despite expecting a difficult match.
"We know playing away to Uganda will not be easy, but we have prepared well and are ready for the battle," said Dabo, who previously coached Senegal's U-20 national team.
Marwan Al-Habishi, who scored against Botswana, said Libya had worked to address the problems from its opening match.
"We started poorly against Botswana last week with two goals down, but managed to fight back and get a draw," Al-Habishi said. "Now we have corrected some mistakes and are ready."
Uganda head coach Paul Put said his team would look to capitalize on home advantage after its draw in Tunisia.
"After the draw in Tunisia, we need to fight and get a win at home," Put said.
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania are competing in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers despite having already secured automatic qualification as the tournament's co-hosts. ■
