MACAO, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals to Macao increased by 6.1 percent year on year to 4,478,073 in August, according to the special administrative region's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Same-day visitor arrivals rose 11.7 percent to 2,853,011, while overnight visitor arrivals fell 2.4 percent to 1,625,062. The average length of stay decreased to 1 day, while the average overnight stay remained unchanged at 2.3 days.
Visitor source data shows arrivals from the Chinese mainland rose 9.3 percent to 3,561,667, with individual visits surging 12.7 percent. Hong Kong arrivals fell 5.6 percent, while international visitor arrivals dropped 9.8 percent year on year to 171,679.
In the first eight months of 2026, Macao's total visitor arrivals went up 7.7 percent year on year to 28,964,737, DSEC data said. ■
