YANGON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- A ceremony commemorating World Heart Day 2026 was held on Saturday in Chanayethazan township in Mandalay region, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Sunday.
During the ceremony organized by the department of cardiology of Mandalay General Hospital, awareness talks and discussions on heart health were conducted, while professor and head of the cardiology department Kyaw Soe Win gave a practical demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the report said.
Attendees also underwent health screenings, including Body Mass Index measurements, blood pressure checks, lipid profile tests, random blood sugar tests, and risk assessments to calculate their 10-year risk of developing heart disease, heart failure and stroke, it added.
The World Heart Day is observed globally on Sept. 29 every year to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases and promote heart-healthy living. ■
